Patient Information

Congratulations! We look forward to participating in this important event in your family. The information below will help explain some of our office procedures.

  • We consider pregnancy to be 40 weeks. Your prenatal appointments will be scheduled at approximately monthly intervals until 28 weeks (your 7th month). Appointments will be every two weeks until 36 weeks, and then weekly. We welcome your significant other or other adult support person at your office visits, but ask that you do not bring children to the office. We hope to prevent other OB patients from exposure to childhood communicable diseases.

  • In order to become acquainted with all of our physicians, you will rotate your obstetrical visits among the physicians throughout your pregnancy. The physician on call will be responsible for the delivery of your baby.

  • North Kansas City Hospital is the only hospital where our physicians perform health care services, including delivery. Please be aware that if you need emergent care and seek care in a facility other than North Kansas City Hospital, our physicians will not be able to provide any services to you at that facility. You may contact the hospital business office at (816) 691-2000 for information on hospital charges. We suggest that you complete all pre-admission papers online at the North Kansas City Hospital website.

  • If you smoke, it is in the best interests of your baby to quit. Alcohol should be avoided in pregnancy. We recommend no medications without our approval, although a list of acceptable over-the-counter medications will be provided to you and is also available on our website. We advocate breast feeding and prenatal classes. For information on prenatal classes, labor and delivery and postpartum rooms, call North Kansas City Hospital or visit their website.

  • If you have a problem or question please feel free to call us. Remember, however, that the doctors may not return your call until after 5:00 pm so that our scheduled patients are not interrupted. If you have a problem, please call early in the day so that we may see you in the office if necessary. You may also go directly to North Kansas City Hospital for evaluation without notifying our office first, and the hospital will contact the physician on call. Should you have an emergency after hours or on the weekend, the doctors can be reached via our answering service by calling our office phone (816-468-7800). Medications will not be refilled after normal office hours.
